Overview

Known as the Blue Pearl of Mongolia, the Khuvsgul Lake stretches 136 kilometers into the Siberian taiga. Covering 2760 square kilometers, the Khuvsgul Lake is Mongolia’s second-largest, but deepest, lake reaching as far as 262 meters deep. With so much to give, this lake is the world’s 14th-largest source of freshwater.
The lake is full of fish, such as lenok, salmon grayling, and sturgeon. It is also home to more than 200 bird species, including the Baikal teal, black stork, and Altai snowcock. The surrounding taiga and mountains boast argali sheep, ibex, bear, sable, reindeer, and moose.

The Khuvsgul Lake is just one amazing site of Khuvsgul Lake National Park. It is also connected to Lake Baikal (found in Siberia) by a single river.
