We are offering a wonderful tour in the Central part of Mongolia. You will have the opportunity to see Mongolian 2 natural zones in a short tour. (Gobi desert and Forst field area)
In the valley along the Orkhon River, Kharkhorin is protected as part of the Orkhon Valley Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage Center. Chinggis Khaan established his supply base here, and his son Ogedei constructed a proper capital.
Soon, traders, dignitaries, and skilled workers from across Asia and even Europe gathered together in this powerful city. In 1388, Karakorum was destroyed by enemy soldiers. In order to preserve the history, the 16th century ruins went into building the Erdene Zuu Monastery.
In the morning we will meet at your hotel and start the drive towards Kharkhorin. On the way, we will stop to see Elsen Tasarkhai, the 80 km-long sand dunes surrounded by wooded hills and wide steppe.
We will go camel riding and explore the area.
Next we will visit the Erdene Zuu monastery as we continue our drive towards Kharkhorin. This famous monastery is located near a stone turtle, the last remnant of ancient Karakorum.
Lunch and dinner.
Early in the morning, we will head to the Tövkhön monastery, one of Mongolia’s oldest Buddhist temples. This ancient site was established in 1648 by Zanabazar, the first spiritual head of Mongolian Buddhism.
During our time here, we will take a short hike and experience the wildlife of the Khangai Mountains.
From the monastery we will drive further west to reach Ulaan Tsutgalan, a famous 10-meter-wide and 20-meter-high waterfall in the Orkhon valley.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After breakfast, we will go on a short horseback ride around Ulaan Tsutgalan. In the afternoon, we will drive back to Kharkhorin for the night.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
We will leave Kharkhorin and drive to see the Orkhon inscriptions. In the early 8th century, two memorials were built in honor of two great Turkic princes, Kul Tigin and his brother Bilge Khagan, written in the Old Turkic alphabet.
We will also visit the ancient ruins of Khar Balgas–the capital of the Uighur Khaganate which ruled Mongolia for 100+ years during the 8th century.
After this, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar and reach your hotel in the evening.
Breakfast and lunch.
