Aglag Buteel (Creation) temple is a small rural Buddhist temple located in a valley of the Dalyn am of Garid mountain in Bornuur Soum of Tuv province. It is approximately 100 km away from the capital.Locals say that a long time ago, this valley was full of rhododendron dauricum watered by the pure springs named Dalan khar (Seventy black). By situating in the heart of the Garid mountain, the Aglag Buteel temple has an amazing view of beautiful nature. A founder of this temple is a well-known Buddhist artist and a monk G.Purevbat. There was an interesting story that the founder G.Purevbat had a vision in his dream which related to the temple. He dreamt that a huge boulder came out when digging the foundation for the temple. His dream came true that when he and his students were digging the foundation for the temple, a huge boulder came out. They didn’t move the boulder and kept it how it was. Soon, they carved six Buddhist mantras (Um Ma Ni Pad Me Hum) in an ancient Mongolian Soyombo script on this boulder. The temple is a two-storey, pyramid shaped and is surrounded by carved stones and mythical creatures.
The entrance to the temple is guarded by the mythical creature Garuda, carved on a large boulder. This Garuda has the body of a lion and the head of an eagle, with a nest containing 11 eggs under its belly. There is another creature with the head of a fish and the body of otter. In Buddhism, harmonizing the bodies of incompatible creatures bring good merit. This temple is good for meditation while enjoying a beautiful nature view.
